Connor, Ralph (1860-1937).
Novelista canadiense en lengua inglesa, cuyo verdadero nombre es Charles William Gordon, nacido en Glengarry Country, Ontario, en 1860 y muerto en 1937.
Estudió en la Universidad de Toronto y en la Universidad de Edimburgo. Fue ordenado ministro presbiteriano en 1890, y trabajó durante el resto de su vida en las misiones: tres años en Banff, un año en Edimburgo y a partir de 1894 en Winnipeg. Colaboró con la revista presbiteriana titulada The Westminster. Fue presidente del Social Service Council de Manitoba.
Publicó sus obras bajo el seudónimo de Ralph Connor. En sus novelas, combina aventuras, vivas descripciones y valores cristianos. Sus tres primeros libros, Black Rock: a tale of the Selkirks (1898), The sky pilot: a tale of the foothills (1899) y The man from Glengarry: a tale of the Ottawa (1901), tuvieron un gran éxito. También fueron muy populares Glengarry School Days: a story of early days in Glengarry (1902), Gwen´s canyon (1899) y Gwen: an idyll of the canyon (1899).
Además, destacan las novelas económicas To him that hath: a novel of the West today (1921), The arm of gold (1932), The girl from Glengarry (1933) y The gay crusader (1936); y las novelas históricas The runner: a romance of the Niagaras (1929), The rock and the river: a romance of Quebec (1931) y The rebel Loyalist (1935).
Publicó algunas obras sobre la vida de Cristo como The angel and the star (1908), The dawn by Galilee: a story of the Christ (1909), The recall of love (1910), The friendly four and other stories (1926) y He dwelt among us (1936).
